Black & White Portraits

The Mermaid Parade is well known for extraordinary marine costumes, and for the occasional partial nudity. It’s held in celebration of the beginning of the summer season and traditionally takes place in Coney Island's Beach. Participants come dressed as mermaids, mermen, sea creatures, and other fantastical beings. There are also floats, marching bands, and dancing groups. The Colorful dresses and costumes are very extravagant inspired by the Americana pop culture.

Founded in 1983 by artist and activist Jim Waring. Waring was inspired by the Mardi Gras parades of the early 20th century, and he wanted to create a parade that would celebrate the unique spirit and history of Coney Island.

“Photography is all about the point of view of someone who want to convey to others the exploration of his surreal ideas and how he perceive the world through their eyes. -
